Why play it on a globe?

A multiple-choice quiz only asks whether you remember one fact. A map asks how close you are, so you get credit for knowing the region, the country or the coast. It also makes you notice things: how many soul labels sat a few hundred miles apart, or how far a sound travelled from the neighborhood where it started.

FAQ

What is a music geography quiz?

A quiz about where music happened: the hometowns of artists, the cities where bands formed, the studios where albums were recorded and the places where genres were born. In GeoMusic you answer by dropping a pin on a globe instead of picking from a list.

Do I need to know the exact city?

No. Every guess scores by distance, up to 100 points a clue. Knowing a band is "from somewhere in the north of England" still earns points, so half-remembered facts count.

How many questions are there?

Five new clues every day, the same for everyone. Past rounds, rounds by genre and an endless shuffle mode are available with GeoMusic Pro.

Which artists and countries are covered?

Music from every continent: rock, pop, hip-hop, R&B, soul, jazz, blues, country, metal, electronic, classical, K-pop, Latin, reggae, Afrobeat and more.

Is the quiz free?

Yes. The daily quiz is free and needs no account.
